ABOUT COACH BILL MCDONALD

Bill has spent more than three decades developing elite golfers, building championship programs, and helping athletes reach their highest potential. A PGA Professional, nationally respected coach, and former NCAA Division I head coach, Bill combines world-class competitive experience with a passion for mentoring young players both on and off the golf course.

From 2006 to 2024, Bill served as the Head Men's Golf Coach at the University of South Carolina, where he became the winningest coach in program history. During his tenure, he led the Gamecocks to 16 NCAA postseason appearances, captured the 2007 NCAA West Regional Championship, coached teams to 29 tournament victories and individuals to 34 titles, and guided South Carolina to a fifth-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Championship. He produced 21 All-Americans and has 3 players currently on the PGA tour.

Prior to South Carolina, Bill founded and co-owned Accelerized Golf, a pioneering golf performance and technology company that integrated biomechanics, sports science, and player development long before those concepts became mainstream. Throughout his career, he has served as Director of Instruction at several premier golf facilities and has worked with golfers of every age and skill level, from beginners to aspiring collegiate and professional players.

As a player, Bill was one of the nation's top junior and collegiate golfers. He was the Rolex/AJGA Player of the Year and the No. 1-ranked junior golfer in the United States in 1983. At Georgia Tech, he earned All-American honors twice, finished runner-up at the 1988 NCAA Championship, and was inducted into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.

Whether coaching future college athletes, mentoring young people through the game, or consulting with families on the recruiting process, Bill believes golf is about far more than lowering scores—it's about developing discipline, confidence, resilience, and character that last a lifetime.
